Blood in Urine - Bladder Infection?

I had a urine test at my doctor's office and was told I had alot of blood in my urine. Enough that my doctor asked if I was on my period, but I have had a hysterectomy three years ago. There was no infection, but they are sending the urine out for a culture test. Can this still be a bladder infection. How long does it take to get the results back from a urine culture test??
