I am thinking about getting an english mastiff and want to know what kind of pets they make from other owners.

they are wonderful. i have a mastiff and a rhodesian ridgeback. both breeds are great. they have their own separate personalities, both made a great match. the ridgeback is a little hyper, the mastiff is a ..velcro dog. she sticks to me like glue. drool...yeah, a little slime here and there, just keep a rag handy to wipe the mouth after drinking. between the 2 dogs, they get the exercise they need just by doing their thing. we have 1 acre, 3/4 fenced, so they can explore, dig, run the fence { cows in field next to us..a favorite thing }, and patrol. when done, back inside to the couch. good luck, and find a good breeder by looking up mastiff breeders on the net, and then research the possible ones you might pick on the akc.org site, to make sure they are not banned. i got mine from a breeder in minnesota, who was breeding her female to a male in colorado. just make sure the bloodlines and temperaments are good, and expect to pay at least $1,000.00 or more for a good mastiff. no back-yard breeders...they have hip/health issues.
