Somebody answer me?

why your long-term boyfriend would try to leave you but fail.I we have been together 8 yrs, and he always said i need a better job as his family didn't approve of me.He started disappearing 2 friday nights out of a month without trace.with workmates he said.i reckon he may have been seeing a girl from his workplace.thing is he was with me every night after that, and not once did this woman contact him.his dress never changed. was still the same.But recently he was depressed and tearful when i asked him if he had been cheating.He said he had work problems. since that he is back to his loving,attentive self,but being a bit protective of me.he still insists he wants me to get a better job if we are to marry.He wants us to start going out more often now.why did he not leave me?? what you think happened here? was our love too strong
